The practice and procedure for ship arrests is a complex area of maritime law whereby a vessel may be arrested by a judicial process pending the determination of a claim. Our Mr Viren Kapadia has presented a paper on this area to the Fiji Law Society which provides a background to this area, the relevant law, and the types of claims that can support an action in rem (i.e. against the vessel). 

Interlocutory applications serve a critical purpose in civil litigation. Understanding the intricacies is essential for practitioners to navigate and address issues that arise during litigation and can significantly contribute to achieving meaningful outcomes for clients.
